Mass Effect 3: The ending of a cycle

Okay, if you arrived here trying to find tips and hints about the game, get your own way. Now, if you are just like me, a lover of RPG's and a fan of the Mass Effect series, then you should read the rest.

I completed Mass Effect 3 this morning around 1:00 a.m., I don't like reading Walkthroughs or use cheats until I have figured it out by myself, so I didn't know what to expect when I began the last mission; I was pretty excited because I wanted to see how this whole saga ended, but at the end, when all happened, I felt a little bit disappointed, mostly for emotional reasons [Warning: spoiler alerts from this point on].

I saw Shepard get up, dust off and back in the saddle after hard battles including the one in the Collector base and when the Citadel was under attack by the Geth; these were times where the odds seems really hard to beat, but at the end coming to only three choices, in which of most he dies and having a completely isolated and sent back to the dark ages galaxy was a complete disappointment. Many choices should have been given to Shepard, as destroying all technology was not necessary to make sure that all organic species would survive throughout the galaxy. In this particular case the catalyst was completely wrong and it's VI was failing all logic and possible scenarios, however, I must say that computers have difficulties between too many choices so it had to be either 1 or 0 or destruction, that's it. Even though, and after reading some blogs and forums, there's a chance that Shepard is still alive at the end (if the Citadel and the relays survive), the closing scene gives the overall perception that all civilizations got cut off from each other.

Now, I became very attached to Shepard since I created him on Mass Effect 1, a sole survivor, a soldier, who at the end became an adept after the choices I made in Mass Effect 2, he had a romance with Ashley, Liara, Miranda and Tali, but having the possibilities in Mass Effect 3, he had an affair with Kaidan at the end (despite all the negative reviews of the gay plot), but seeing him separated from his squad mates didn't make any sense, besides, I got the feeling Joker was using a Mass Relay when Shepard activated the Catalyst, so they end up in an alien planet, which raises the question: shouldn't Joker stay close to Earth to help the Alliance? Did they ever come back to Earth?

So, does he have to die unless you increase your military strength? I don't think is fair. He survived through everything, that's why he became a Legend in the first place, shouldn't we get at least a chance to reunite him with the others? Even though the information was stored in technological devices, some of it probably was stored differently (or is this a vision of our own future trusting in machines to do what humans are supposed to do? Cerberus should've known better). The Mass Relay technology, which we know from a fact that was emulated by the Protheans and probably was studied by Cerberus could be used again to show us a galaxy at peace and maybe show us the Galactic Civilization crossing the borders of our own galaxy.

I don't know, I feel I was let down by the writers with all this holes in the plot, which maybe were left there for dramatic purposes. Now, as a writer, I can only think this whole thing keeps going, without having a Mass Effect sequel, I guess they should start publicizing books that fill the void left by the game. I for one would volunteer as long as I can get some real answers (isn't this what we are looking for?). This, at the end, has become a motivation for me and I'm willing to bet my life on it I'll have something good at the end of the day if I do so.

I'm very emotional and I got attached to the characters,so seeing them die one after the other and having few of them as allies or on the squad was a complete downer too. I know, war brings death, but having Jacobs survive and not Miranda made no sense, or I played it the wrong way in Mass Effect 2. And I can go on and on!

What can you tell me about your Mass Effect experience? I'd like to read some of your comments.
